Alfonso V, Emperor of Spain, son of Vermudo II "the Gouty," King of Leon and Elvira García, Queen of Leon, was born in 994.1 He died at Viseu, Portugal, 5 May 1027 while besieging that Muslim town2,3,1 and was buried at the Basilica of San Isidoro, León, Spain.1

Alfonso married Elvira Menendez, daughter of Mendo Gonzáles, Count in Galicia and Totadomna, Countess (in Galicia?).4
