Daniel Walling, son of James Walling and Phoebe Jones, was born 18 July 1792.1,2,3,4,5 He died at McMinnville, Warren Co., Tennessee, 11 March 1881,1 and was buried at the Seitz Cemetery, Van Buren Co., Tennessee.6,7

Daniel Walling married Sarah Nancy Walling, daughter of John Walling and Elizabeth Roberts, in 1813.1,8

When Scott County was created, Daniel Walling was made an Ensign of Militia. His captain was Hiram Kilgore, and Daniel later named his son for this man.9
