Deacon Samuel Winslow
Deacon Samuel Winslow, son of Kenelm Winslow and Mercy Worden, was born at Harwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts, about 1673.1 He died at Petersham, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, 9 November 1760, "in 88th year of his age".2,1
Samuel married (1) Bethia Holbrook, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at Scituate, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, 26 September 1700;1 he married (2) Mercy King, daughter of Deacon Thomas King and Elizabeth Clapp, at Scituate, 11 November 1703;1 he married (3) Ruth Briggs, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at Rochester, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, 15 September 1739.1
Early in life, he was called "cordwainer," and later yeoman. He resided in Rochester in 1700, and was Deacon of the First Church as early as 1710. He was one of the proprietors of Leicester, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, in 1724; and on 6 Feb 1733, he deeded some land in Leicester to William Wickes.1
