John Clapp, son of Increase Clapp and Elizabeth Bursley, was born at Barnstable, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts, October 1676.1 He died at Rochester, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, between 1752 and 1754.1

John married Dorcas Earle, daughter of Ralph Earle and Dorcas Sprague, about 1700.1,2

He lived his entire life in Rochester and made his will 31 Mar 1752, proved 1 Apr 1754:
estate to his son Ebenezer,
a small legacy to son Benjamin, he having had his share by deed. Ebenezer to pay legacies to
"his sister Charity, my daughter,"
"my daughter Elizabeth"
"my daughter Mary."


The various heirs receipted to Ebenezer Clapp:
"I, Charity Thorpe of Ware River, a place so-called in the county of Hampshire who am one of the heirs of the late John Clap of Rochester, Plymouth County decd"
Elizabeth and Kenelm Winslow for her share;
Mary and John Briggs, for her share.1
