He removed from Scituate to Barnstable where he lived for some years, and then settled in Rochester. In 1710 he bought land there from William Griffith.
His Will: "The Seventh Day of February one thousand seven hundred & fourteen fifteen, I Increase Clap of . . . Rochester . . . Being grown in years & under BodilyWeakness & Infirmity But of Perfect mind & memory . . . doe make . . . my last will. . . . "Item, I give . . . unto my son John Clap . . . All my Estate . . . upon ye condition following . . . he . . . paying to my son Benjamin Clap . . . And he . . . shall keep support maintain & Provide for my son Thomas Clap during the term . . . of his Naturall Life . . . my son John also taking care to keep him honestly imployed in such . . . Imployment as he shall thought to be capable of . . . I . . . appoint my son John Clap . . . sole Executor (Plymouth Co. Probate, 3:449).6
