Luke Carter, son of Captain Luke Carter and Martha (…), was born at Madison, Morris Co., New Jersey, in 1736.1 He died at Madison, 11 September 1770, at age 34,1,2 and was buried at Hillside Cemetery, Madison, Morris Co., New Jersey.3

Luke married Hannah Miller, daughter of Andrew Miller and Mary (…).4

In 1764, he built a pew with Josiah Miller (Per his will, his brother-in-law) and was assessor in 1765.1

Luke left a will dated 6 September 1770, and proved 27 Sept, providing for:
wife Hannah, her choice of room "after mother's", "all the goods she brought," and £300;
an expected child;
legacies to brothers George & Thomas;
executors: wife, brother-in-law Josiah Miller; brother George.5
