Captain John Miles, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born before 1662.1,2 He died 10 February 1710.1,2

John had an unknown first wife who was the mother of his children; he married (2) Abigail Thompson, daughter of John Thompson and Dorothy (…), say 1693.2,3,4

He was a weaver or clothier. He also was appointed Captain of an expedition against the French and Indians (21 Feb 1692/3) and also sent out in 1709 "to the relief of our sick souldiers at Albany and the Wood Creek." Jacobus points out this probably indicates earlier service in another locale, but that has not been identified.1,2
