John Mawdsley, son of John Mawdsley and Elizabeth (…), was born at Dorchester, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, say 1640.1 He died at East Windsor, Connecticut, 18 August 1690.2,3

John married Mary Newberry, daughter of Benjamin Newberry and Mary Allyn, at Windsor, Connecticut, 14 December 1664.4,3,5

He was made freeman of Windsor in 1666, and a Lieutenant in King Philip's War.

He removed to Westfield, Mass. in 1677 and became a freeman there in May 1678.

Shortly after the birth of Hannah, he died at Windsor. Savage does not indicate if he had returned there permanently or was only on a visit.2
