Martin Bruce, son of William Bruce, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Embleton, Northumberland, England, 20 March 1698.1 He died before 17 January 1770,2 when he was buried at Sessay, Yorkshire, England.2

Martin married Ann Skaife, daughter of Henry Skaife and Dorothy Pecket, at Sessay 6 July 1720.3

Martin left a will dated 8 November 1766, proved 15 February 1770 leaving legacies to:
     * wife Ann
     * son Thomas Martin
     * son in law Thomas Barker
     * son in law Robert Stevenson.4
