John Cook, son of John Cook and Mehetabel Howell, was born in 1722.1 He died at Southampton, Suffolk Co., New York, 5 February 1804,2,3,4 and was buried at the Mecox Cemetery, Bridgehampton, Suffolk Co., New York, where his stone is inscribed:
In memory of Deac. John Cook who died Feb 5, 1804. Ae. 82
Cook is no more, his soul has took its flight
From sin and darkness to celestial light
Weep, reader, weep, but not for him the sigh
For you, yourself like him the same must die.3

John married Mary Schellenger, daughter of Daniel Schellenger, say 1750.3,1
