Hugh Pedrick, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at Cumberland Co., New Jersey, about 1737.1,2 He died at Green Street Monthly Meeting, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania, 18 May 1792, "in the 55th year of his age."3
Hugh married (1) Elizabeth Booth, daughter of Richard Booth and Ann Barber, at Alloways Creek, Salem Co., New Jersey, 28 February 1765;2,4 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Phebe Jefferies, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here) at Philadelphia, 8 April 1791.3
Shoemaker makes a huge leap in declaring Hugh Pedrick of Cumberland Co. to be the unnamed child of Thomas Pedrick's will, written in 1720, 45 years before Hugh's marriage, this being the "first record of any Hugh Pedrick." It is somewhat incredulus that 25 years of adult life could pass without some record of it, somewhere. We also find that the first record of Hugh was actually in 1753 when he was mentioned in the will of Joseph Hewes.
Fekel had Dr. Peter S. Craig research some of the early Pedricks: "Dr. Craig reported, "That Hugh Pedrick (c1737-1792) was the son of Philip Pedrick and his wife Hannah Bickham seems apparent by the names given to their children."
It is presumed he is the same Hugh Pedrick who died in Philadelphia in 1792 in his 55th year. James, son of Hugh & Elizabeth died there in 1790.5,6,7,3
Hugh Pedrick is first of record in the 1753 will of Joseph Hewes of "Peen's Neck," Salem Co., who mentions that his apprentice, Hugh Pedrick, was to be placed with Richard Carson of Willmington for the rest of his time, indicating that Hugh was still a minor and hence was born after 1733.6
Hugh left a will dated 7 April 1792, and proved 31 May 1792:
