Sir Richard of York, Knt., 3rd Earl of Cambridge, son of Sir Edmund of Langley, K.G., 1st Duke of York and Isabel of Castile-Leon, Duchess of York, was born at Conisbrough Castle, Yorkshire, England, 20 July 1385.1,2 For conspiring to depose King Henry V, Richard of York was attainted and beheaded at Southampton Green, England, 5 August 1415.1,2 He was buried in the chapel at God's House, Southampton, England.3

Richard married (1) Anne Mortimer, daughter of Sir Roger Mortimer, Knt., 4th Earl of March, 7th Earl of Ulster, Lord Mortimer and Eleanor Holand, 23 May 1408;1,2 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Maud de Clifford, daughter of Sir Thomas de Clifford, Knt., 6th Lord Clifford and Elizabeth de Roos, about 1414.1
