Robert de Brus
Robert de Brus, son of Adelm Brus, died in May 1141.1
Robert married Agnes de Paganell, daughter of Foulk de Paganell.1
Robert succeeded his father in the barony of Skelton, and became a powerful Baron in Yorkshire, holding at least 94 lordships, summed at fifteeen knights' fees. He was a liberal benefactor to the Church, and along with the the Earl of Huntingdon (later David I), founded the Abbey of Selkirk, later removed to Kelso.
He received charters from David I, about 1124, to the lands of Estrahanent (Annandale).2
