Jesse Gardner, son of William Gardner and Susanna Gardner, was born at Deep River, Guilford Co., North Carolina, 8 September 1789.1,2,3 He died at Jay Co., Indiana, before 29 October 1864, when one of his daughters acknowledged receiving a part of her legacy.4

Jesse married (1) Rhoda Bunker, daughter of Reuben Bunker and Judith Macy, at New Garden, Guilford Co., North Carolina, 25 November 1815;5,6 he married (2) Esther Starbuck, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at Wayne Co., Indiana, 13 September 1836.7,8

Jesse Gardner was a blacksmith from Guilford County, North Carolina. They were early settlers of Wayne County, Indiana, along with many others from that state. He later moved to Jay County, Indiana.6
