John Ingleby, son of Sir William Ingleby, Knt. and Joan Stapleton, was born at Ripley, Yorkshire, England, 7 July 1434.1 He died 21 September 1457, St. Matthew's Day2,1 and was buried at St. Nicholas Church, Hertford, England.1

John married Margery Strangeways, daughter of Sir James Strangeways, Knt. and Elizabeth Darcy.2

He apparently "did wondrously flourish in the reign of Henry VI."1
