Alexander II, King of Scots, son of William I "the Lion," King of Scotland and Ermengarde de Beaumont, was born at Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland, 24 August 1198.1 He died at Kerrera, Scotland, 8 July 1249,2 and was buried at Melrose Abbey, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2

Alexander married (1) Joan of England, daughter of John "Lackland," King of England and Isabel of Angoulême, at York, Yorkshire, England, 19 June 1221;1 he married (2) Marie de Coucy, whose ancestry is not traced here.3 He also had at at least one unknown mistress.4
