William Chittenden, son of William Chittenden and Elizabeth Markley, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Hawkhurst, Kent, England, 17 July 1608.1 He died at Guilford, Connecticut, before 24 October 1660, when his inventory was presented in court.1

William married Joan Sheafe, daughter of Edmund Sheafe and Joan Jordan, about 1633.2,1,3
