Jonathan Cowdrey, son of Samuel Cowdrey and Alice Mean, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, 22 May 1720.1 He died at New York, New York Co., New York, December 1797.2

Jonathan married (1) Jane Martin, whose parents are not known (or are untraced), say 1752;3 he married (2) Elanor van DeWater, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), 6 November 1771.3

In 1790, his household was probably the one enumerated in the New York City North Ward, New York Co., New York, with 1 free white male over 16, and 4 free white females.4
