Laura Canfield White, daughter of Consider White and Sarah Washburn, was born at Hartford, Connecticut, 9 January 1792.1,2,3 She died at Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, 12 March 1865,4,5 and was buried at Mt. Ida Cemetery, Troy, Rensselaer Co., New York.5,6

Laura married Dr. Simeon Zelotus Henry, MD, whose parents are not known (or are untraced), at Troy, Rensselaer Co., New York, 17 November 1814.1,7

From the Troy Post, 27 Dec 1814, Col 3, pg3: Married: In this village on 17th ultimo by the Rev. Mr. Clark, Dr. Simon Z. Henry of Pittsfield, Mass to Miss Laura C. White, Daughter of Mr Consider white, Merchant of this town.

A note from Sarah (Henry) Covel to either Emma (Force) Atkins or Adele (Force) Cooke:
My Father & Mother were married on the 17th day of Nov 1814 in the village of Troy, State of New York. So that he must have gone to the states to study before he was married for it was then that he met my mother and then moved back. All of the children were born in La Prarie but your mother who was born in Montreal- we all came to the states except my eldest brother who came sometime before us. I was 9 years old when we moved to the states and was married at 20. Note is unsigned and unaddressed.


A record from what appears to be the Covel Family Bible states she died 12 Mar 1865 in New York City, ae 73yrs/2mos/3dys;

From the Troy Daily Whig, p 3 col 4: Death of Mrs. Henry - On our obituary head this morning, appears the notice of the death of Mrs. Henry, relict of the late Dr. S. Z. Henry formerly a well-known physician of this City. Her remains will be brought here for interment.

Henry: In the City of New York on Sunday March 12th Mrs Laura C. Henry, relict of the late Dr. S. Z. Henry of Troy. Her remains will be interred in Ida Hill Cemetery on Wednesday the 15th inst;

From th Mt Ida Cemetery interment record: ae 73yrs/2mos/3dys, died of paralysis, lived at 235 W. 36 St. (NYC), born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Consider White. James Covel, informant.5
