Joseph Pickering, Gent., whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), died at Barbados, after 4 December 1665, when he wrote his will.1

Joseph married Alice (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here).2

Joseph was in Barbados with more than 10 acres of land by 1638.3

Joseph left a will dated 4 December 1665, and recorded on the 29th day of Dec, Jan, or Feb 1665[/6], though the recording date (and also probably the date of the will itself) are in error by 20 years (see below). In it, he writes of:
daughters Alice Dowden and Grissell Thomson, wife of George Thomson
John Furdis
wife Alice Pickering, executrix
friend Samuel Tidcomb, Esq., and George Thomson, merchant, overseers
Wit: Steven Emerson, Francis Cox

In spite of the 1665 dating of the abstract of his own will, the wills of his wife Alice, son Joseph, and that man's wife Elizabeth all imply that Joseph Sr. was still living when those three wrote their own wills:
Joseph (2 Apr 1670) names father and mother as still living
Elizabeth (20 Jul 1677) names father in law Joseph Pickering and "his wife, my mother in law" and an "instrument in writing dated 13 Jun 1671 between me and them."
Alice (11 Sep 1684) writes "Husband has allowed me to make my will."

Also, 30 Dec 1679, Joseph Pickering, Gent. is shown in St. Lucy's Parish with with 10 acres, 2 white servants, and 11 negroes.4,5
