James Chilton, son of Lyonell Chilton, was born at Canterbury, Kent, England, about 1556.1 He died at Cape Cod Harbor, Massachusetts, 18 December 1620.1

James Chilton is commonly reported to have married his step-sister, Susanna Furner, however, she was clearly baptized in November 1573, and the first child of James and his wife was baptized in January 1586. It is very unlikely that a 12 1/2 year old would be married and have a child.2
