James Cook, son of Colonel Ellis Cook and Margaret Griswold Cocker, was born 25 March 1760.1,2 He died at Morristown, Morris Co., New Jersey, 26 March 1836, at age 75.3,1,2,4
James married (1) Elizabeth Phebe Condict, daughter of Silas Condict and Phebe Day, 25 November 1781;5,1,2 he married (2) Ruth Pierson, daughter of John Pierson and Abigail (…), 3 August 1786;6,1,2 he married (3) Susan (…), whose parents are unknown.4
He served in the New Jersey militia during the revolution, but did not accrue enough time to qualify for a pension–being able to specify only about five months of service when six was required. His pension file mentions his widow, Susan (no maiden name), and that he did have children, but they are unnamed.7
