Edmund of Woodstock, 1st Earl of Kent, son of Edward I "Longshanks," King of England and Marguerite of France, was born at Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, 5 August 1301.1 He was beheaded for treason Outside the gates, Winchester Castle, Hampshire, England, 19 March 1329/30.2 He was intitially buried at the Church of the Friars Minors, Winchester, Hampshire, England,2 but was removed to Westminster Abbey on the petition of his widow and son, Edmund, in 1331.2

Edmund married Margaret Wake, Countess of Kent, Lady Wake, daughter of Sir John Wake, Knt., 1st Lord Wake and Joan de Fiennes, about 25 December 1325.1
