Sir Roger de Mortimer, K.G., Marshal of England, son of Sir Edmund de Mortimer, Knt., Lord Mortimer and Elizabeth de Badlesmere, was born at Ludlow, Shropshire, England, 11 November 1328.1 He died suddenly at Rouvray, Avalon, France, 26 February 1359/60, during the descent into Burgundy during the Rheims campaign.2 He was first buried at France2, but his remains were later returned to England and interred at Wigmore Abbey, Herefordshire.2

Roger married Philippe de Montagu, daughter of Sir William de Montagu, Knt., 1st Earl of Salisbury, 3rd Lord Montagu and Katherine de Grandison, before 1351.1
