Sir Edmund de Mortimer, Knt., 3rd Earl of March, Lord Mortimer of Wigmore, son of Sir Roger de Mortimer, K.G., Marshal of England and Philippe de Montagu, was born at Llangoed, Breconshire, Wales, 1 February 1351/52.1 He died at the Dominican friary, Cork, Ireland, 27 December 1381, after catching cold while crossing a river in winter at Munster.1 He was first buried at Cork, but later reinterred with his wife at Wigmore Abbey, Herefordshire.2

Edmund married Philippe of Clarence, daughter of Sir Lionel of Antwerp, K.G. and Elizabeth de Burgh, Duchess of Clarence, at Reading, Berkshire, England, about May 1368.1
