Frances Ball, daughter of Guy Ball and Catherine Duboys, was born probably shortly before her baptism at Christ Church Parish, Barbados, 2 March 1717/18.1,2,3 She died 18 May 1761,1,4 and was buried at St. Mary Magdalene, Richmond, Surrey, England, 24 May 1761 where her monument is inscribed:
Near this Place Lye the remains of
Frances first Wife to
Edward Lascelles, Esqr of Barbadoes
afterwards; of Admiral Holburne,
Three Children of each Marriage survived her;
In the severall characters
of a Wife, a Mother, a Friend,
and Mistress of a Family,
none excell'd her.
To perpetuate as long as Marble can;
The Memory of so good a Woman,
This Monument is erected.
She died 18th Day of May 1761,
In the forty second Year of her Age.5,4


Frances married (1) Edward Lascelles, son of Daniel Lascelles, M.P. and Mary Lascelles, at Christ Church Parish, Barbados, 1 January 1731/32;1,2,6 she married (2) Admiral Francis Holburne, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at St. Thomas' Parish, Barbados, 28 November 1749.7,1,8
