Maria Burritt Cowdrey, daughter of Peter Anderson Cowdrey, Esq. and Maria Burritt, was born at New York, New York Co., New York, 6 January 1844.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 She died at New Brunswick, Middlesex Co., New Jersey, 22 October 1927,9,10,3 and was buried in the Cooke plot at the Old Brick Reformed Church Cemetery, Marlboro, Monmouth Co., New Jersey.3,11

Maria married Dr. Henry Gansevoort Cooke, MD, son of Dr. Robert Woodruff Cooke, MD and Susan Gansevoort, at New Rochelle, Westchester Co., New York, 8 June 1876.12,10,13

Maria left a will dated 28 May 1920, and proved 3 Nov 1927,
naming two daughters, Sara and Maria executors
leaving each of five children $1000 in cash and certain personal effects;
the residual estate to be divide equally among the children.

A codicil left an additional $600 to Sara and $400 to Maria, this being a bequest to the testatrix by Mrs. Samuel B. Cowdray.14
