Sir Robert de Brus, Knt., Earl of Carrick, son of Robert de Brus and Isabel de Clare, was born at Writtle, Essex, England, July 1243.1 He died in England while returning to Annandale, shortly before 4 April 1304,1 and was buried at Holm Cultram Abbey, Cumberland, Scotland.1

Robert married (1), as her 2nd husband, Margaret of Carrick, daughter of Neil de Carrick, Earl of Carrick and Isabel (…), about 1273;1 he married (2) Maud Fitz Alan, daughter of John Fitz Alan and Isabel de Mortimer, 19 September 1295;2 they were divorced by 19 May 1298;3,2 he married (3) Eleanor (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), after May 1299.4
