Peter de Witt, whose parents are unknown, was born about 17 August 1734.1 He died 28 January 1809,1 and was buried at Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury, Middlesex Co., New Jersey.1

Peter married Phebe Cook, daughter of Abiel Cook, at Monmouth Co., New Jersey, 25 February 1757.2,3,4

Peter de Witt left a will, which he signed by mark, dated the day before he died, 27 January 1809, and proved 10 Feburary 1809:5
of Cranberry, Middlesex Co;
Grandchild, Sarah Ann Dewitt, $70 when 18.
Grandchildren, Sharlote Robins, Mary Robins, Isaiah Robbins and Phebe Robbins to have one seventh part of proceeds of my estate.
Jane Dewitt, $5.
Sons, Aaron, and Peter, and daughters, Ann Dewitt, Hannah Shaw, and Mary Voorhees, remainder of estate.
Executors—son, Peter Dewitt, and daughter, Ann Dewitt.
Witnesses—David Chambers, Joseph Branson and Wm. Schenck.
