Affonso III "el Restaurador," King of Portugal, son of Affonso II "el Gordo," King of Portugal and Urraca of Castile, was born at Coimbra, Portugal, 5 May 1210.1 He died at Lisbon, Portugal, 16 February 1279,1 and was buried at Alcobaça, Portugal.1

Affonso married (1) Mahaut de Dammartin, before August 1239;1 he repudiated the marriage in 1245;1 he married (2) Beatris of Castile-León, daughter of Alfonso X of Castile-León "el Sabio," Knt., King of Castile, etc. and Mayor Guillèn de Guzmán, about 3 June 1254.1
