Eudes III, Duke of Burgundy, son of Hugues III, Duke of Burgundy and Alix of Lorraine, was born in 1166.1 He died at Lyon, Rhône, France, 6 July 1218,1 and was buried at the church of the Abbey of Citreaux, Côte-d'Or, France.1

Eudes married (1), as her 2nd husband, Mahaut of Portugal, daughter of Alfonso I "the Conquistador," King of Portugal and Maud of Savoy, in 1193;1 their marriage was dissolved on grounds of consanguinity in 1195;1 he married (2) Alix de Vergy, daughter of Hugues, seigneur of Vergy, Autry, & Châteel-Censoir and Gisle, in 1199.1
