William "the Conqueror," King of England
William "the Conqueror," King of England, son of Robert I "the Magnificent," Duke of Normandy and Herleve, was born probably at Falaise, France, in 1027.1,2 He died at the priory of Saint Gerviais, Rouen, France, 9 September 1087,1,3 and was buried at abbey church of Saint-Étienne, Caen, France.3
William married Maud of Flanders, daughter of Baldwin V, Count of Flanders and Adele de France, about 1050.1,3
