John Higginson, Gent., son of Jonathan Higginson and Elizabeth Pickford, was born 26 June 17761 and baptized at Little Peover, Cheshire, England, 23 July 1776.2 He died at Liverpool, Lancashire, England, 21 December 1834,1,3 and was buried at St George, Everton, Lancashire, England.1

John married Sarah Ann Barrow, daughter of Nathaniel Barrow and Anne Clarke, at Barbados about 1806.4,5

In his son's matriculation entry for Oxford University, John Sr. is listed as a gentleman of the Isle of Barbados and that John Jr. is his third son.6
