Frances Cogan, daughter of Henry Cogan and Joane Boridge, was born probably shortly before her baptism at St. Mary Magdalene, Taunton, Somerset, England, 24 February 1605/6.1 She died at Lancaster, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, 17 May 1671.2,1,3

Frances married John Whitcomb, son of Thomas Whetcombe and Johanna Pope, at Taunton 26 November 1623.1,2,4

Frances left a will dated 12 May 1671, and proved 23 March 1671/2:
"Francis Whetcomb of Lancaster" left to " my eldest daughter Katherin and my five sons every one of the one shilling, if it be demanded, and my daughter Abigall my greatest brass pot, and the rest of my estate to be my youngest daughter Mary and do hereby appoint her my sole executrix." Rev Joseph Rowlandson and "my beloved friend and neighbor Roger Sumner" to be overseers and have care for "my daughter Mary in reference to her dispose in marriage."5
