Robert Fitz Roy, 1st Earl of Gloucester, illegitimate son of Henry I, King of England and an unknown mistress, was born about 1090.1 He died at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, 7 November 1147,1 and was buried at St. James Church, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.1

Robert married Maud Fitz Robert, daughter of Robert FitzHamon, lord of Creully in Calvados and Sybil de Montgomery, before 1122.1
