Elias Anderson

Elias Anderson, son of Jochim Anderson and Emmetje Jans, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, New Netherlands, 4 November 1665.1 He died at New York, New York Co., New York, before 16 March 1732/33, when his will was proved.2,3
Elias married Marytje Boeckholt, daughter of Pieter Boeckhout and Elsie (…), before 1685.4,3
Elias and his wife are named in the baptism record of three children, 26 August 1696: Andries, Pieter, and Jannetje. Among those children, Jannetje does not seem to be among his surviving children at his death in 1738. If this Pieter is also the husband of Cornelia Holmes, he would be at least 16 years her senior, which makes this identification somewhat questionable and the Mitchell Ancestry reports that our Peter was born 17 May 1699, so perhaps frst Peter probably died before then. Their children are identified in an sale notice and subsequent deed:
On 25 Feb 1738, the heirs conveyed the property to Jonathan Hardman, Vintner:
It is worth noting that Jacob Anderson, the contact named in the sale notice, is not named among the grantors. Perhaps he is a brother to Elias, but Anderson is a common name.
The farm they sold is the same as that previously owned by Peter Boeckhout and his wife Elsie. As Elias' wife is named Marytje Boeckholt in the baptism record given above, Peter and Elsie are almost certainly her parents.
In this account of Elias' children, Andrew Allbody with wife Annetie, is presumed to be the son of Elias. In Riker's Harlem,6 and Stokes' Iconography.7, by 24 July 1738 (just 5 months after the above deed), Andrew, who later took the surname Anderson, is married to Hannah de la Montayne, the widow of John Buys. In his unrecorded will, he calls himself Andries Albody, alias Anderson, and names his brother Peter as one of his executors.

Bounded by the N. W. by the land of Aberam Anderson from thence with a square towards the N. W. 12 r., 4 1/2 ft: bounded by the commons, and to the S. W. by the land of David Devoor. Containing 29 Acres.5
