David married Susan Jane Smith, daughter of Andrew Smith and Asenath "Ezena, Asenith" Stone, at Gibson Co., Indiana, 22 March 1853.10,11,12

On 16 April 1859, David, his wife Susan Jane, together with his brother Albert and his wife Naomi Jane, sold a small piece of property. As yet, nothing has been found to show how the two couples came to have a joint interest in the property.13
