Pedro I "the Cruel," King of Castile, son of Alfonso XI, King of Castile and Leon and María of Portugal, was born at Burgos, Castile, 30 August 1334.1 He was slain by his illigitimate half brother, Enrique II Alfonso, King of Castile and León at Montiel, France, 23 March 1369.1

About 17 March 1346, Pedro was contracted to marry Joan, of the Tower, daughter of Edward III, King of England and Philippa Hainault, but she died of the plague at Bordeaux, France, while enroute to the ceremony;2 he married (1) Blanche of Bourbon, daughter of Pierre I, Duke of Bourbon and Isabelle of Valois, at Valladolid, Castile, 3 June 1353;2 clandestinely, he probably married (2) his long-time mistress, María de Padilla, daughter of Juan García de Padilla, señor of Villagera and María Gonzáles, in 1353;1,2 he married (3), as her 2nd husband, Juana de Castro, daughter of Pedro Fernández de Castro, señor of Lemos and Isabel de Leon, in March 1354.3

Richardson gives only the four children by María de Padilla. Wikipedia also identifies a child by Juana de Castro, and additional children by other mistresses:2,4
