Alfonso XI, King of Castile and Leon, son of Fernando IV, King of Castile and Costanza, Princess of Portugal, was born at Salamanca, Spain, 13 August 1311.1 He died of the Black Death while besieging Gibraltar, 26 March 1350.1
Alfonso married (1) Constanza Manuel, daughter of Juan Manuel, señor of Villena and Constanza of Aragón;2 the marriage was annulled without issue in 1327;2 he married (2) María of Portugal, daughter of Affonso IV "el Osado," King of Portugal & The Algarve and Beatris of Castile-León, at Alfayate, Portugal, September 1328.3,2
Alfonso also had one known mistress, Leonor Nuñez de Guzmán, by whom he had nine sons and one daughter.2
