William Clarence Pierce, son of Lewis Pierce and Clarysa Blanch Baldridge, was born at Orleans Co., New York, 2 July 1856.1,2,3,4,5,6 He died at Los Angeles, California, 27 October 1927,1 and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles Co., California.1,7

William married Margaret Anita Carder, daughter of David Newton Carder and Mary Docia Walling, at McMinnville, Warren Co., Tennessee, 31 December 1887.8,9,10

He was a stationary engineer and worked for serveral utility companies in the Midwest and ended his career with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

In 1900, he is shown to be a stationary engineer in Chicago, and in 1910, he was an engineer for the street car company in Denver.

Sometime after 1900, he worked for the Hershey Chocolate Company in Hershey, Pennsylvannia. He claimed to have developed their milk chocolate manufacturing equipment. For reasons unknown, he moved his family by train to Denver around 1906-7. For several years, they received cases of chocolate from Hershey for Christmas.
