Gideon Payne, son of William Paine and Sarah Hawkins, was born at Adams, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, 10 January 1765.1,2 He died at Farmington, Ontario Co., New York, 23 November 1848,3,4,2 was buried at Friends Cemetery, Farmington, Ontario Co., New York.3,5

Gideon married Phebe Hill, daughter of Caleb Hill and Mary Jolls, at Adams 18 February 1793.2,6,7

In 1790, his household may be the one enumerated at Bellingram, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, with 3 free white males over 16, 1 under 16, and 5 free white females.8

Gideon left a will dated 27 September 1845, and proved 3 March 1849 naming:
