Moses Ely, son of William Ely and Elizabeth Perkins, was born at Livingston, Essex Co., New Jersey, 18 November 1756.1 He died 14 July 1838,2 and was buried at Ely Cemetery, Livingston, Essex Co., New Jersey.3

Moses married Rebekah Cook, daughter of Epaphras Cook and Sarah / Rebekah Smith, 3 January 1782.2,4,5

Moses left a will dated 2 February 1832, and proved 26 July 1838:
of Livingston Twp, Essex Co;
wife Rebecca to household goods as she thinks necessary, black horse & chair, her choice of 2 cows, and a joint note of Caleb H. Ely & Calvin Ely for $600.
son Abraham to have 15 acres of the tract Moses purchased of Isaac Halsey;
son Benjamin, $1;
remaining children to share equally in the remainder, after deducting what each had already received as recorded in Moses' book--Elizabeth, wife of John Watson, Moses Ely, Epaphras Ely, Sally, wife of Abraham Halsey, Smith Ely, John Ely, Ann Mariah, wife of Joseph Kitchel.

Witnesses--Abner Ball, Andrew Littell, William M. Smith


Perhaps being Quakers, the two executors affirmed their performance and accounting of the estate, 2 Jul 1838.6
