Sir Gilbert de Clare, Knt., 6th Earl of Gloucester
Sir Gilbert de Clare, Knt., 6th Earl of Gloucester, son of Sir Richard de Clare, Knt., 6th Earl of Gloucester and Maud de Lacy, was born at Christchurch, Hampshire, England, 2 September 1243.1 He died at Monmouth Castle, England, 7 December 1295,2 and was buried at Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, England.2
Gilbert married (1) Alice de Lusignan, daughter of Sir Hugues XI le Brun, Knt. and Yolande of Brittany, about 1253;1 they divorced in 1285;3 he married (2) Joan of England, daughter of Edward I "Longshanks," King of England and Eleanor of Castile, at Westminster Abbey, London, England, 30 April 1290.3
