Berenguela I of Castile "la Grande," Queen of Castile and Toledo
Berenguela I of Castile "la Grande," Queen of Castile and Toledo, daughter of Alfonso VIII "el Noble," King of Castile and Eleanor of England, was born about 1179.1 She died at Las Huelgas de Valladolid, Spain, 8 November 1246,1 and was buried at Santa Maria la Real monastery (de las Huelgas), Burgos, Spain.1
Berenguela married (1) Konrad II, Duke of Swabia, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at Seligenstadt, Hesse, Germany, 23 April 1188;1 they later divorced, before 1196;1 she married (2), as his 2nd wife, Alfonso IX, King of Leon, son of Fernando II, King of Leon and Urraca of Portugal, at Valladolid, Spain, December 1197;1 they separated due to consanguinity in 1204.1
