Copyright Issues

I have what appears to be a rather strict copyright notice on the bottom of every page in the database section. After seeing several of my pages and images pasted into various commercial web sites, I decided enough was enough. I appreciate that someone thought enough of my work that they wanted to use it, but you should do your own work. Wasn't that we learned in school?

You are more than welcome to create links to my pages and put them wherever you like.

Facts, such as birth, marriage, & death dates and places are not protected by copyright and you may do whatever you like with those.

Privacy

You won't, or at least shouldn't, find any live folks named on these pages. If you do, my apologies, and please let me know about it so I can remove them. Internet privacy and security are issues our ancestors did not have to contend with when they wrote their books and included the details on many living people. Not so today. Cindi's List has a good set of links to articles about genealogy and privacy and those form the foundation for my choice not to include the living, not even their names, on these pages. If you want to see your name in print or on the Web, you'll have to put up your own web site.

Caveat Emptor

If you found this site by a search engine, you have probably seen many other web sites full of genealogical facts, with few or no sources mentioned. This site is an attempt to correct that problem and I hope you appreciate the efforts I've made to cite the sources of my information and the basis for my conclusions. But just because I have sources does not make it true. The sources are there so you find them and decide for yourself. My evaluation may be in error, the sources may be inadequate, or I may have made a mistake. They do happen, and when you find them, please let me know so I can fix them. Jacobus himself stated,

"The genealogist who brags that he never makes mistakes may

or may not be a first-class genealogist, but he is surely a first class liar."
