Feb 26, 1885 Took 4 loads of corn. Started to Ks. in evening.
Feb 27 Got to K. C. at 10 oclock in morning.
Feb 28 Got to Hays City at 3 oclock in eve.
Mar 1, 1885 Went to Walker on warm train. Very tired.
Mar 2 Went to Hays City.
Mar 3 Came to Walker this morning with loaded car.
Mar 4 Went to Gorham & looked at country.
Mar 5 Looked at country.
Mar 6 Worked colts. Went to Walker Creek.
Mar 7 Went to Mule east of here. Nice & warm.
Mar 8 Sunday at home. Went to Gorham in eve.
Mar 9 Made garden. I planted potatoes.
Mar 10 Went & got 225 lbs hay of Mr. Hall.
Mar 11 Went to Russell at nite. Got harrow.
Mar 12 Helped Mr. Hall thrash forenoon. Made garden. Burned trash.
Mar 13 Hauled hay forenoon. Commenced to build hen house afternoon.
Mar 14 Went & got 27 bu. oats forenoon. Worked on hen house.
Mar 15 Sunday at home all day. Clear & nice.
Mar 16 Went & got lumber & posts for corrall. Very cold.
Mar 17 Set posts for corrall & dug the well. Sold a mule.
Mar 18 Made trough. Fixed corralls. Plowed afternoon.
Mar 19 Plowed all day. Good day to work. Clear.
Mar 20 Plowed. Cold.

Apr 6, 1885 Worked on cave. Slept at Walker last nite.
Apr 7 Worked hard & moved in new house in evening.
Apr 8 Went to Gorham. Paid Mr. Gorham $50.00. Took Mr. Hules tools home.
Apr 9 Wadby came by, got Bill & Devteo paid me $200.00 and is to pay balance of $115.00 next Monday April 13, 1885.
Apr 10 Plowed yard south of house. High wind.
Apr 11 Went to Russell got Lister, Safe and Chairs.
Apr 12 Sunday at home all day. Warm & fine.
Apr 13 Finished papering house. Badby paid the $115.00.
Apr 14 Planted corn with lister, but it wouldn’t work.
Apr 15 Took lister back. Got another. Nice & warm.
Apr 16 Planted corn. Warm & fine.
Apr 17 Harrowed & planted corn. Hauled hay.
Apr 18 Went to Bradeys. Got corn & oats. Sowed millet in evening.
Apr 19 Fine rain last nite. At home all day.
Apr 20 Finished planting 10 acres corn. Made garden. Planted melons.
Apr 21 Went to Gorham. Got 50 posts set out 48.
Apr 22 Went & got 65 posts. Sharpened and set west of north line. Hattie washed. Clear and fine.
Apr 23 Floss colt came. Harrowed corn. Hattie went to Mrs. Clays. Shot chicken. Painted on house. Clear & nice.
Apr 24 Finished painting house forenoon. Took ladder home. Went to get pigs.
Apr 25 Made pig pen. Went got 2 pigs, 1 sow and 3 chicks. Went hunting got 4 ducks.
Apr 26 Sunday Dave Clay & I dug for badgers. Nice & warm.
Apr 27 Went to Gorham I and Hattie to get wire plauted.
Apr 28 Planted 6 acres corn with Flora & Lula.
Apr 29 Radfords children here last nite. Rained.
Apr 30 Hattie washed. I harrowed corn. Went to Walker.
May 1, 1885 Went to Walker. Plowed corn.
May 2 I and Hattie went to Walker. Bred Lula to his Clyde Horse.
May 3 Got letter from Johnson & Harriet. Very warm & nice.
May 4 Went to Walker & to Gorham. Got 6 balls wire. Got to harrow for Fagon.
May 5 Planted corn. Waly Fagon harrow afternoon.
May 6 Planted corn. Radford here. Nice fence wire.
May 7 Snowed forenoon. Waly helped with fence.
May 8 Finished fence. Colt got cut in wire last night.
May 9 Planted and harrowed corn forenoon. Went & got coal at Victoria.
May 10 Sunday at home. White frost. Mr. Fox & Mr. Hule & Wife here.
May 11 Finished planting corn. Sprinkled rain warm & dry.
May 12 Planted corn. Seed pumpkins. I went to Gorham in eve Stella went with me.
May 13 Took Lula to Grunts horse. Plowed corn with cultivator in eve.
May 14 Rained a little last nite. Set out cabbage plants. Plowed.
May 15 Got hay and plowed forenoon. Cooler at nite.
May 16 Misted rain forenoon. Very hot. Plowed in eve. Cooler.
May 17 Sunday at home all day. Dave Clay here. Warm.
May 18 Finished cultivating & harrowing 20 acre piece corn.
May 19 Fine rain last nite. Plowed corn for the first.
May 20 Finished plowing 100 acres of corn over for 1st time. Nice and warm.
May 21 Hattie washed. Went to Gorham then I to Grunts.
May 22 I loafed & hoed a little. Warm & dry.
May 23 Hoed set out cabbage plants. Droped corn for Dave in afternoon.
May 24 Hard rain last nite with wind. Fagan & wife here.
May 25 Plowed & sowed some seed. Nice growing day.

Jul 10 Hard rain and raining this morning. Went to Walker and killed 2 prairie dogs.

Aug 1, 1885 Went to Russell. Hard rain in eve. Very hot.
Aug 2 Went to S. School. Cool & fine.
Aug 3 Plowed all day. Ground in fine fix. Cool.
Aug 4 Plowed. Cool and fine for work.

Aug 6 Plowed. Very misty & foggy in morn. Hot day.

Aug 8 Put up millet. John Radford helped. Grant Burried.

Aug 10 Finished plowing 20 acre piece. Sowed turnips. Hattie dried corn.
Aug 11 Greased harness & Hattie went to Clays & sewed
Aug 12 Mowed weeds along corn with mower. Warm.
Aug 13 Cut 2 acres of millet for Mr. Radford. Hattie washed.
Aug 14 Cut 8 rounds cane before noon. Helped Mr. Radford thrash. Hard wind & some rain in eve.
Aug 15 Light rain last nite. Harrowed forenoon. Helped thrash in afternoon.
Aug 16 Sunday went to S. S. and meeting. Prof. Carrol preached. Hot.
Aug 17 Helped Fagon thrash forenoon. Put up corn in evening.
Aug 18 Cut hay at Mr. Halls forenoon. Put up corn afternoon.
Aug 19 Cut hay all day at Mr. Halls. Fine & cool.
Aug 20 Cut hay forenoon. Took up rock for slacks. Dug potatoes.
Aug 21 Stacked hay all day. John R. helped. Nice day.
Aug 22 Rained a little last night. Finished stacking hay.
Aug 23 Sun. at home all day. Very hot & dry. Rained in eve.
Aug 24 The heaviest rain this yr. 6 in. Went to Walker. Finished chicken coop.
Aug 25 Dull & misty. Loafed all day. Misty Cold.
Aug 26 Went to Gorham to get coal. Cool & nice. Cloe & Daney here.
Aug 27 Cut 12 shocks corn. Hattie washed. Cool.
Aug 28 Cut corn. Hattie went to Mrs. Clays and made me pair pants.
Aug 29 Cut corn forenoon. Went for Mrs. More afternoon. Hattie sick all nite.
Aug 30 Our boy (Roy) is born at 1 P. M. this afternoon Nice day.
Aug 31 Mrs. Radford stayed all nite & helped wash.
Sep 1, 1885 Had hail storm last nite. Went after plums.
Sep 2 Nora went home. I stayed in house. Killed 2 chickens.
Sep 3 I went to Russell. Mother came. Got home at 10 oclock at nite.
Sep 4 I and mother washed. Damp & misty.
Sep 5 Killed chicken & Jack rabbit. Misty cold & damp.
Sep 6 Sunday mother & I went up by Mrs. Rhodes place.
Sep 7 Rained forenoon went to Victoria. Hard rain and wind all nite.
Sep 8 Washed forenoon. Nice & clear. Got 4 bu. wheat 55 cts.
Sep 9 Took mother to Russell. She started home. Got 10 bu. wheat for 40 cts.
Sep 11 Harrowed 6 acres wheat. Cool & fine. Tried to drill. Raked corn.
Sep 12 Shucked corn. Washed. Went got 8 bu. wheat 55 ct.
Sep 13 Sun. at home all day. Nice day.

Oct 7 Mort and I made smoke house. Fine day.
Oct 8 Went to Hays. Got load lumber.

Oct 16 Went to Hays. Got lumber for stable. Warm.

Oct 18 Sunday rained all nite. Bad on stock. Snowed all afternoon

Oct 20 Set & drove posts out south of house. Snow melted.
Oct 21 Drove posts on north line. Worked hard. Nice.
Oct 22 Drove posts on east line & east pasture fence.
Oct 23 Put wire on fence. Wally Fagon helped.
Oct 24 Wally helped forenoon. Nice & warm.
Oct 25 Sunday clear & warm. Nicest of weather. Eve went riding in wagon.

Oct 27 Husked corn. Went to Gorham got lumber. Cold.
Oct 28 Worked on house. Lining it. Cold & chilly.
Oct 29 Worked on shed. Strips & stable. Went to Gorham. Cow died.
Oct 30 Skinned cow. Covered shed with cane. Bought cow of Grunt.
Oct 31 Went to Gorham. Got 31 posts 13 cts. 406 lb wire 4½cts. Burried turnips. Made gate.
Nov 1, 1885 Sun. clear & fine. At home all day.
Nov 2 Husked corn forenoon. Nice day.
Nov 3 Husked load of yellow corn. Went to election.
Nov 4 Husked 24 bu. corn. Took Fuller 25 ct. bu. Got white corn.
Nov 5 Papered house. Damp & misty cold.
Nov 6 Hattie washed. Cold W. wind. Went to Gorham. Got coal & wire. Pulled turnips.
Nov 7 Fixed wire on pasture fence. Roy now weighs 16 lbs.
Nov 8 Sunday froze last nite. Went to Mr. Keiths.
Nov 9 Nice & warm. Put wire on pasture fence.
Nov 10 Finished fence. Snapped & husked corn.
Nov 11 Gathered corn. Very warm. Nice day. Dry & nice.
Nov 12 Skeft snow. Colder wind. Gathered load of corn.
Nov 13 Got 2 loads of corn. Very warm & fine.
Nov 14 Killed hog in morn. Got load corn. Nice day.
Nov 15 Sunday at home all day. Am sick. Clear & fine.
Nov 16 Went to Gorham. Got $10.00 suit of clothes.
Nov 17 Started to Ill.
Nov 18 Got to McComb in morn. Went to Violas. They took me to mothers.
Nov 19 Went to Wills house. Went to town & dep $1200.00 in bank. Got $500.00 in cash.
Nov 21 At mothers last nite. Went with Wills to Chester. Took train for home in eve. Paid Mort Cover.
Nov 22 Got to Russell at night. Walked home.
Nov 23 Chored went to make deed, but Fuller gone.
Nov 24 Helped Mr. Keith move house. Made deed at night.
Nov 25 Husked 2 loads white corn. Clear & fine.
Nov 26 Husked 2 loads white corn. Rained and got wet.
Nov 27 Went to Gorham. Paid him all I owe. Made hen house.
Nov 28 Set out strawberries forenoon. Husked load corn in evening./
Nov 29 Sunday at home all day. Nice and warm. Set steel trap.
Nov 30 Caught badger. Got 2 loads corn. Nice day.
Dec 1, 1885 Husked 1 load corn & snapped 2. Have lane wisl.

Dec 5 Went to store. Got drafts from Mrs. P. for $278.50.

Dec 8 Snowing. Got 29 bu. coal at Walker.
Dec 9 At home. Got hay & coal hauled.
Dec 10 Went to Hays City. Got lumber & sewing machine.
Dec 11 Covered corn crib. Hauled 3 shocks corn.
Dec 12 Snowing this morn. Sewed on machine.
Dec 13 Sun. at home all day.
Dec 14 Hattie washed. Hauled fodder.
Dec 15 Killed hog. Made sausage. Nice & clear.
Dec 16 Went & bought 2 cows $26.50 & $30.00.
Dec 17 I & Hattie went to Edels place.
Dec 18 Finished hauling fodder. Husked corn. Warm.
Dec 19 Sunday misting rain nearly all day.
Dec 20 Hattie washed. Went to Gorham. Look at land.
